The Portugal international could leave Old Trafford for Saudi Arabia

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is giving serious consideration to a shock £100million move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal this summer.

The 30-year-old Portugal international is currently being targeted by the Saudi Pro League side, who are seeking a marquee signing following Neymar's departure to Santos.

According to The Athletic, talks are already underway for Fernandes to join Al-Hilal, with the club said to be willing to pay the substantial fee to secure his services.

Should the midfielder accept the lucrative offer, his final appearance as a United player could come in today's friendly against Hong Kong as part of the club's end-of-season Asian tour.

Al-Hilal are prepared to pay the whopping £100 million transfer fee as they look to make a statement signing following the departure of Brazilian superstar Neymar.

The Saudi Pro League club has identified Fernandes as their primary target for a marquee addition to their squad.

Talks between the parties are already progressing, with the Portugal international reportedly entertaining the possibility of a move to the Middle East.

The substantial financial package on offer would see Fernandes take home significant wages should he decide to accept Al-Hilal's proposal and make the switch to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Fernandes is among several United stars up for sale this summer as part of manager Ruben Amorim's squad overhaul.

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are also in line to be sold to help finance the restructuring of the team.

The trio likely would not have been available for transfer had United secured Champions League football by winning last week's Europa League final.

However, following the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the final, the club now faces the prospect of losing key players to fund their summer rebuild without the financial boost of Europe's premier competition.

In the aftermath of the Europa League final defeat, Fernandes admitted his future at Old Trafford is out of his hands.

The former Sporting Lisbon ace said: "I have always been honest. I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go."

He added: "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is. And football sometimes is like this."

The captain acknowledged he remains "eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days" but accepts the uncertainty that comes with modern football.
