Luke Littler was beaten by Luke Humphries in the Premier League final but before his match against Gerwyn Price, objects were thrown at him

Luke Littler was struck by a foam finger and narrowly avoided being hit by a second flying object as he prepared for his Premier League Darts semi-final at the O2 Arena.

The foam finger hit the world champion on his leg as he stood by his table, applauding the 14,000 fans.

As the 18-year-old bent down to remove the foam finger from the stage, another unidentified item was launched from the crowd with considerable force, soaring over him.

Both Littler and opponent Gerwyn Price helped kick the objects off the stage before taking their practice throws.

Price faced a hostile reception from the capacity crowd, with booing beginning even before he left the practice room when a pre-recorded interview was shown on screens.

The Welshman ignored the jeers and charged out of the blocks to dominate the opening stages.

Price silenced the 14,000 sell-out crowd during the first half of the match, taking a commanding 6-4 lead at the interval.

The early dominance left the capacity audience staring at a potential exit for their hero, with Littler appearing nervous in the opening legs before the mid-match break.

Littler regrouped during the interval, having a drink and cooling himself down backstage after storming off when Price hit double five to secure the 6-4 advantage.

The defending champion then produced a stunning comeback, winning six of the next seven legs to inflict a 10-7 defeat on the Iceman.

Price had previously won six of their eight encounters, making the comeback all the more impressive as Littler overcame both the crowd disruption and his opponent's early dominance.

However, Littler went on to lose the final to Luke Humphries after a pulsating final between the two best-ranked players in the world.

Cool Hand came out on top after an 11-8 win, exacting revenge from last year's final to end his Premier League hoodoo.

He said: "This one means the world to me, that was the one I was missing. It was the one I wanted, I have done it now.
