Arsenal took a comfortable win at home

Arsenal ran riot as they beat Leeds United 5-0 in their first home game of the season, as Mikel Arteta’s side broke down the newly-promoted United side.

Viktor Gyokeres got his first goal in red as he slotted a shot past Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri, before scoring a penalty on his home debut. Bukayo Saka also got himself on the scoresheet as he thundered a right-footed shot in at the end of the first half, before going off injured.

Arsenal will now prepare to face Liverpool next week at Anfield in what will surely be one of the biggest games of the season.

Gyokeres is yet to justify his price tag

Two games into the new Premier League season, and the narrative surrounding Viktor Gyokeres is still one of waiting.

The Swede was a sensation for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 92 goals in 102 appearances, but Gyokeres has yet to scare a goalkeeper in England.

Fans put the game against Manchester United down to fitness and acclimatising to the league, but fans will be expecting more from the striker.

Getting on the scoresheet for the first time during this game is a step in the right direction, but he will need to keep it up.

Arsenal looks to only be getting stronger

With the announcement of Eberechi Eze just before the game, it has become clear that this Gunners squad will only get stronger as the season progresses.

With Kai Havertz out with injury and Viktor Gyokeres still trying to find his feet in north London, this is a team that will grow and grow as the season progresses.

Arsenal fans will be excited to see Eze take to the pitch. He will take the No10 shirt when he takes the field.

Leeds showed good moments but struggled against Arsenal

Leeds could cause issues for top teams

Many came into the season thinking Leeds would be a sure bet for relegation, but two games into the season, they may just shock the league and keep themselves up.

While they are still making some of the mistakes a newly-promoted side will, when this team hooks it all up, they can put some real fear into opponents.

David Raya was needed at key points in the match to save an embarrassing afternoon.

Daniel James can change a game in moments, and the robust defence will be tough to break down without some creativity, so long as they can clear up their mistakes.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Arteta’s side is still missing that spark

Despite having injected over £250million into his side in this transfer window, Arsenal still struggled to break Leeds down.

The eventual breakthrough came from a corner, something the Gunners have always been known for, but when will the open play creativity make its way into Arteta’s side?

Arteta will be hoping that Eze will unlock the spark in this team, but unless the team can find a way to create some goals, it will likely be another season of second best.

Gyokeres and Noni Madueke looked slow and static and will need to find more if they want to win when they go to Anfield and face the champions.

Sparks are there within the team, but Arteta needs to find a way to make sure the creativity that netted their goals against Leeds continues throughout the season.

Bukayo Saka

Injury worries already for Arsenal

As much as the Gunners will celebrate their victory, there will also be a lot of concern as the team lost both Martin Odegaard in the first half, wth what appeared to be a shoulder injury, and Saka pulled up in the second half with a hamstring issue.

Both players are instrumental to the success of this Arsenal side, and if they were to be out, as well as Havertz, going into the game against Liverpool, Arteta would be left with a severe headache heading into the game at Anfield.
