Anthony Gordon is expected to leave Newcastle this summer

Anthony Gordon has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga champions step up their pursuit of one of Newcastle United's biggest stars.

The Toon winger is believed to be open to a move to Germany after another impressive season on Tyneside.

However, Bayern still face a significant hurdle if they are to complete the deal.

Newcastle are said to be demanding at least £75million for the England international, according to talkSPORT.

Gordon has enhanced his reputation this season by scoring 17 goals in all competitions and cementing his status as one of the Premier League's most dangerous attacking players.

His form has attracted attention from several heavyweight clubs.

Arsenal are reported to have shown interest, while Liverpool have continued to monitor the Merseyside-born forward.

Liverpool are not currently expected to enter formal negotiations, however, leaving Bayern as the leading contenders.

Fresh from securing another Bundesliga title, the German giants have made strengthening their attack a priority this summer.

Any transfer fee could rise even further if Gordon impresses for England at this summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Newcastle remain in a strong position, though.

The 25-year-old signed a long-term contract extension two years ago that ties him to the club until 2030.

Manager Eddie Howe recently declined to discuss the speculation in detail, but stressed that Gordon remains fully committed.

"I feel Anthony remains 100 per cent committed to the club," Howe said.

Gordon has endured a disrupted finish to the campaign because of a hip injury.

He missed defeats to Arsenal and Bournemouth before returning to the bench for the win over Brighton and the draw with Nottingham Forest.

Howe insisted the decision to leave him out of the starting line-up was based solely on tactical considerations.

"The team has performed well in Anthony's absence," he said.

"Ant has come back to fitness. He's training well but, also, I'm looking at the future as well."

Newcastle signed Gordon from Everton in January 2023 for around £40m.

Since then, he has developed into one of the club's most influential players and one of the most highly regarded English wingers in Europe.

With Bayern reportedly having reached an agreement with Gordon himself, the focus will now shift to whether they are prepared to meet Newcastle's substantial valuation.
