Andy Sinton is recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack

Hospital staff are currently treating former England international Andy Sinton following a cardiac event that occurred on Friday night.

The 59-year-old, who currently represents QPR in an ambassadorial capacity, is making progress in his recovery according to an announcement from the Championship side.


The west London club confirmed the news through their social media channels, stating: "On Friday evening, our club ambassador, Andy Sinton suffered a heart attack. We are pleased to say he is now recovering in hospital. Please join us in wishing Sints well."

The medical emergency happened shortly after QPR's heavy defeat at Coventry City on Friday afternoon.

Messages of support have flooded in from supporters and former teammates following the announcement.

One supporter wrote on social media: "Get well soon, Andy. Need you back at the club ASAP," whilst another commented: "Get well soon Andy, the club is not the same without you."

Tottenham Hotspur also expressed their concern, posting on Twitter: "Get well soon, Andy. Sending the best wishes of all your Spurs family."

Several supporters acknowledged that the concerning health update overshadowed sporting matters.

"And suddenly losing 7-1 is put in perspective. Get well soon Andy, we all send our love to you!" one fan posted.

The former winger represented England on twelve occasions from 1991 to 1993, featuring in Graham Taylor's squad for the European Championships in Sweden.

During the tournament, he participated in two matches as England exited at the group phase.

His club career included 190 appearances for QPR from 1989 to 1993, where he earned his first international selection in 1991.

The player nicknamed 'Sints' commanded a then-record £2.75million transfer fee when he moved to Sheffield Wednesday.

He later enjoyed success at White Hart Lane, securing the 1999 League Cup during his 83-match stint with Tottenham. His playing days concluded with periods at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burton Albion, Bromsgrove Rovers and Fleet Town.

Sinton assumed his ambassadorial position with QPR in May 2015, becoming the club's inaugural ambassador. His responsibilities encompass matchday appearances, supporter engagement events and collaboration with corporate sponsors.

Prior to his ambassadorial duties, Sinton managed Fleet Town from 2005 to 2010 and subsequently led AFC Telford United until January 2013.
