Red Bull have found form while McLaren pairing Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris had a nightmare in Baku

Max Verstappen issued a stark warning about Red Bull's next challenge despite celebrating his commanding Azerbaijan Grand Prix triumph on Sunday.

The four-time world champion specifically highlighted concerns about the Singapore Grand Prix in a fortnight.

"Singapore is a challenge again with the high downforce," Verstappen cautioned when asked about Red Bull's prospects of maintaining their recent momentum.

"This weekend has been incredible for us. Monza was already great but for us to win here is fantastic.

"The car was working really well on both compounds. We had clean air all the time, so you could look after your tyres, and it was pretty straightforward."

The Dutch driver dominated proceedings from pole position, ultimately crossing the finish line 14.6 seconds ahead of George Russell's Mercedes.

His performance marked consecutive victories for the first time in 15 months, following his success at Monza two weeks earlier.

Verstappen's flawless execution included securing the fastest lap, completing his sixth career grand chelem.

The victory enabled him to reduce his championship deficit to Oscar Piastri to 69 points, with 199 still available this season.

"It's never easy around here, very windy today, so the car was moving around a lot. I'm incredibly happy with this performance," Verstappen added.

McLaren's championship aspirations suffered a devastating blow when Oscar Piastri's race ended after just three corners. The Australian driver's weekend nightmare continued following his Saturday qualifying crash.

Starting ninth, Piastri made a false start and immediately halted, triggering the anti-stall system.

The entire field swept past, relegating him to last position before the opening corner.

His misfortune culminated at Turn 3 when he locked his front wheels and collided head-first with the barriers, prompting an immediate safety car deployment.

The incident eliminated McLaren's opportunity to secure consecutive constructors' championships for the first time since 1991.

Piastri's retirement left teammate Lando Norris to salvage points alone, though a problematic 4.1-second pit stop hampered his progress to an eventual seventh-place finish.

Carlos Sainz celebrated an emotional return to the podium, securing third place for Williams in what marked the team's finest result of the season.

The Spanish driver's jubilant mood reflected the significance of his achievement, having not stood on the rostrum since his farewell appearance with Ferrari in Abu Dhabi last year.

Starting from the front row, Sainz maintained strong pace throughout, eventually finishing behind Russell after the Mercedes driver's strategic late pit stop allowed him to emerge ahead.

The result represented a triumphant moment for both driver and team, with Williams securing their highest finish of the campaign.

Sainz's podium appearance ended a lengthy drought since departing the Italian squad at the conclusion of the previous season.
