The Briton posed on the red carpet amid his struggles at Ferrari this season

Lewis Hamilton has been mocked by fans for attending the premiere of F1: The Movie at a time when he's struggling in Formula One.

Many hoped to see the 40-year-old performing at the peak of his powers again following his blockbuster move to Ferrari.

Yet Hamilton has struggled for consistency during his time in his new surroundings, with the veteran yet to win a race.

To make matters worse, Mercedes appear to be getting things together following his departure - with George Russell winning the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Furthermore, Hamilton's replacement - youngster Andrea Kimi Antonelli - finished third.

Hamilton is currently sixth in the F1 standings, already 119 points behind Oscar Piastri.

He's not even the best driver at Ferrari so far, with Charles Leclerc sitting ahead of him in fifth.

On Monday night, Hamilton joined the likes of Brad Pitt, Christian Horner, Geri Horner and Nico Hulkenberg at the premiere of F1: The Movie.

Hamilton is a producer for the film, which hits cinemas in the United Kingdom on June 25.

The Briton looked smart in a pink suit and black sunglasses as he posed for pictures, including one with Pitt.

But fans have now mocked the Ferrari driver for attending the premiere at a time when he's struggling on the track.

One user wrote: "His greatest achievement this season."

A second hit out by saying: "Full-time producer, part-time racing driver." Their post was also accompanied with a laughing emoji.

Another blasted: "If only he put that much effort into racing."

And a fourth let rip by writing: "He better stick to producing movies, his time in F1 is over."

Hamilton, meanwhile, has opened up on the film and his role behind the scenes.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

There is already talk that it'll be a huge box office success, just like Top Gun: Maverick was when it released in 2022.

And Hamilton said he wanted to make the picture 'authentic'. He told Reuters: "I really wanted to make sure the authenticity was there, and it worked for both the younger and the older audience, and then making sure that the racing was true to what it is.

"All the other drivers, all the teams, are relying on me to make sure that it does."

"He already had the knack. He really went in deep."
