The darts star has been forced to pull out of the PDC Players Championship

Gerwyn Price has issued a concerning health update after posting a picture of himself in the hospital, forcing him to withdraw from the PDC Players Championship.

Price has had a good season so far, winning both the Poland Darts Master and the Baltic Sea Darts Open already, and was looking to be one of the favourites for the PDC title.

The Welshman was surprisingly not in the ballot for the Players Championship draw on Monday, raising concerns over his well-being.

Price has taken to social media to post a health update, which appears to show his right hand red and swollen, captioned with a caption that said: “Just what I didn't want, back to the hospital it is.”

The initial image was then followed up with an image of the 40-year-old sitting up on a chair with a drip in his arm, with “not a bed in sight” written over the image.

Concerningly for Price, this is not he first time he has sustained a hand injury.

In 2022, he was forced to withdraw from a Premier League night after suffering a fracture in the same hand.

The Welshman did not confirm on social media if the injury was of a similar nature or how long the injury would keep him out.

As a result, fans may struggle to see the Iceman for a while as he looks to recover in the upcoming weeks.

His final post on social media reassured fans that he would try to be fit in time to compete in Belgium.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Jeffrey de Graaf won the first final at the PDC before Stephan Bunting’s victory earned him a cosy £15,000.

Price faces a race to get fit as the World Series Finals, the Czech Darts Open, and the Flanders Darts Trophy will all take place before the end of September.

If he has repeated the injury in his right hand, the expected recovery time is somewhere between three to eight weeks.
