The 54-year-old showed his class once more during Tuesday's Players Championships

Gary Anderson showed why he's loved by darts fans everywhere during Tuesday's Players Championship 26 clash with Callan Rydz.

The Scottish veteran pulled off something truly special that had viewers calling him "class" and praising his incredible sportsmanship.

In a moment that perfectly captures what makes Anderson such a respected figure in the sport, he deliberately threw away a chance to win a leg after accidentally putting his opponent off.

The 53-year-old went on to win the match 6-4, but it's his remarkable act of fair play that everyone is talking about.

The incident happened during their last-16 match at the floor event, where players expect complete silence while throwing.

A spectator started talking during play, prompting Anderson to turn and say, "We're playing darts here" to whoever was making noise.

But Anderson realised his complaint came right as Rydz was throwing for double 20 to win the leg. The distraction caused the 27-year-old to miss his shot.

Feeling responsible for the disruption, Anderson stepped up and deliberately threw at the bullseye instead of the double 20 he needed.

This gave Rydz another opportunity to return to the oche and clinch the leg with a double ten.

Fans couldn't believe what they'd witnessed. One viewer called Anderson "a class act" while another described it as "one of the best bits of sportsmanship you'll ever see."

"Gary Anderson with one of the best bits of sportsmanship you’ll ever see. Will probably get a fine but what a bloke," wrote a viewer.

One viewer was impressed by how casually Anderson executed the deliberate bust: "That was absolute class, both the gesture and the fact he just hit the bull so nonchalantly."

"Top, top bloke. Heart of gold," summed up another viewer, capturing the widespread admiration for Anderson's selfless act.

What made Anderson's gesture even more impressive was how he responded immediately afterwards, nailing a perfect 180 with his next three darts.

The Scot went on to secure the 6-4 victory and advanced through the tournament.

He made it all the way to the semi-finals before losing 7-4 to Gian van Veen. While Anderson's sportsmanship earned universal praise, he might face a fine for deliberately missing his shot.

One fan pointed out the irony: "If they fine him it's a disgrace." But knowing Anderson, he probably won't mind paying the price for doing the right thing.
