Tyson Fury has been forced to pull out of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk after suffering a cut in training.

David Haye finally got his long-awaited wish of Tyson Fury pulling out of a fight due to a cut in training - although the former British heavyweight boxer admits to feeling bittersweet.

This month was set to see the first undisputed heavyweight clash since 1999 with Fury going up against Usyk for all four major belts.

Both fighters were set to finish their respective training camps ahead of the clash on February 17.

But disaster struck this week with Fury suffering a huge cut above his right eye during a sparring session.

Croatian heavyweight Agron Smakici was grappling close with Fury during sparring when the former caught his opponent with an unsuspected elbow to the face.

Queensbury Promotions published a photo of Fury's nasty gash on social media and confirmed the fight with Usyk has now been postponed.

News of Fury's cut soon drew comparisons to when Haye suffered a similar infliction when he was preparing to fight the Gypsy King 11 years ago.

Fury famously launched a scathing attack at Haye on social media after the fight was called off.

Now Haye feels karma has come back to bite the 35-year-old, although he doesn't "take pleasure" in the news.

“Fury suffers a cut a couple of weeks before the fight," Haye said.

"I know that pain all so well. I remember in 2013 when I was scheduled to fight Tyson Fury, I myself suffered a cut and oh did I not hear the end of it from him.

"To this day, I still hear 'you only got cut because you didn't want to fight him. You're scared'.

"I was the big favourite, just as he's the big favourite in this fight and sometimes shit just happens and that's part of the sport.

"I actually remember at the time thinking, 'I hope one day before one of his big fights he has to suffer this, he's been that much of a d*** about it,' and here we are.

"But I don't feel that good about it at all.

"I get no pleasure from him having to pull out of a fight that I really wanted him and the rest of the world wanted to see take place."
