The pair had a row over comments made

Derek Chisora has revealed he got into a heated argument with Dillian Whyte after criticising his rival.

The 41-year-old Chisora disclosed that Whyte reacted furiously when contacted, refusing to answer calls and instead sending an angry voice message accusing him of being "a snake" attempting to "take food out of my kids' mouth."

Additionally, Chisora's vocal advocacy for lifetime bans for athletes caught using performance-enhancing drugs has particularly incensed the 37-year-old Whyte.

Chisora explained his position to The Sun, saying: "I always talk to the Board that if we get someone cheating in boxing they should get banned for like at least ten years."

The veteran fighter had previously stated on talkSPORT that boxers caught doping deserve permanent exclusion from the sport, arguing that clean athletes who train diligently shouldn't face competitors gaining unfair advantages through banned substances.

"Why should you have a disadvantage on someone else who's woken up every morning, trained hard, but you train less and you inject yourself by something to beat the other guy? That's not fair," Chisora said.

His comments have clearly struck a nerve with Whyte, who has faced multiple doping allegations throughout his career.

Whyte's career has been marked by three separate doping controversies, beginning with a two-year suspension in 2012 for testing positive for methylhexaneamine, a stimulant he claimed was unknowingly consumed through a pre-workout supplement called Jack3D.

A second incident occurred in July 2019 when an unknown prohibited substance was detected before his bout with Oscar Rivas, though UK Anti-Doping later dismissed the case citing "isolated contamination."

Most recently, his anticipated 2023 rematch with Anthony Joshua was cancelled following another adverse finding, which Whyte again attributed to contamination.

The pair share a complex history, having fought twice professionally - Whyte winning a contentious split decision in 2016 before stopping Chisora with a left hook in their 2018 rematch.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Despite their current animosity, Chisora expressed genuine support for his former rival ahead of Saturday's clash, revealing he's backing Whyte to defeat the rising star.

"I would love to see Dillian win it. Genuinely, because Dillian is from the old school," Chisora stated, acknowledging rumours that Whyte might retire if defeated.

The heavyweight veteran, who declined a £2million offer to face Itauma himself to maintain his IBF ranking, suggested a potential trilogy fight could materialise if Whyte emerges victorious.

"If he wins this one, maybe one more. If he wins this one, I will fight him," Chisora confirmed, indicating his 50th professional bout could be against his longtime rival.
