The pattern emerged ahead of next week's Blackpool edition

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing complained in their droves on Saturday night over the amount of coverage dedicated to the upcoming Blackpool Week.

World famous for its spectacular ballroom and a staple part of the BBC show, Blackpool is a highly-anticipated goal each year, but a 10-minute long pre-filmed segment about the seaside resort left many viewers calling for the hype to be dialed down a bit.

Saturday's programme began with a look-back at the iconic Blackpool moments of the show through the years.

Each judge as well as professional dancer shared their earliest memories of the spectacular ballroom, and how much it means to make it to the milestone week.

Many expressed their annoyance on social media, with one asking on X: "Why was that vt so long? #Strictly."

"Take a shot every time they mention Blackpool #Strictly," a second quipped.

A third echoed: "Let’s have a shot every time they mention Blackpool tonight on #Strictly we’ll be plastered in about 10 minutes!!"

"Blackpool count x14 #Strictly," another shared.

"Do we really need all this chat about Blackpool? #Strictly," someone else asked.

"Already sick of the endless references to Blackpool #StrictlyComeDancing," another added.

One more demanded: "Oh just get on with the dancing #Strictly."

Not everyone had such a negative reaction though, with others finding the Blackpool discussion exciting.

"Blackpool montage is making me SO excited for next weekend #Strictly," one pleased viewer announced.

A different fan penned similarly: "I'm looking forward to Blackpool week so much #Strictly." (sic)

There was even a joke about it on the show, with the judging panel and host Tess Daly referencing the ongoing conversations about next week.

Ms Daly remarked to the judging panel: "Now, I know we're all very excited about it, but we have already mentioned Blackpool 27 times tonight.

"So I think we should pace ourselves, right judges?"

The camera then cut to the four judges sporting Blackpool-themed merchandise and celebrating.

Before Blackpool Week can begin, one more pairing will unfortunately have to wave goodbye to their Strictly journey, with one pair set to leave in tomorrow's show following the vote.
