The 29-year-old defensive back is reported to be in a critical condition following the early morning attack, which occurred at around 2am on Sunday on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue.
Although police have not officially named the victim, the New York Post, citing sources, reported that Boyd was the man wounded in the shooting.
According to the outlet, he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he remains in a life threatening condition. Officers have launched an investigation but, as of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

The New York Jets released a short statement acknowledging the situation but declined to provide any further details.
“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” the franchise said.
ABC7 reported that first responders arriving at the scene discovered Boyd suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The outlet also said that detectives are searching for a man seen fleeing the area in a blue vehicle moments after the shooting.
Police have not disclosed a motive and are appealing for witnesses as the investigation continues.
Boyd entered the NFL as a seventh round pick in the 2019 draft and initially spent four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, where he established himself as a hard working and versatile cornerback.

In March, Boyd secured a one-year deal with the New York Jets, although he has been on injured reserve since August.
