The 36-year-old has opened up after the horror crash on Monday

Anthony Joshua remains under medical observation at Nigeria's premier private facility, the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos, where he will stay into the New Year following Monday's devastating road accident.

The 36-year-old former world heavyweight champion has described experiencing "pain all over my body" in the aftermath of the high-speed collision that claimed two lives, according to The Sun.

Medical examinations have confirmed the British boxer sustained no fractures, though sources have indicated he suffered intense discomfort in his knees and was heard crying out while being extracted from the damaged Lexus SUV.

His mother, Yeta Odusanya, rushed to be at her son's side and has been providing comfort as he receives continuous care at the £2,000-per-night facility.

Matchroom promoters confirmed Joshua "is in a stable condition and will remain there for observation."

The tragedy unfolded on Monday morning at approximately 11am on the notoriously hazardous Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, where the group was travelling to Joshua's family residence in Sagamu for New Year festivities.

The Lexus 4x4, reportedly travelling at high speed, lost control and collided with a stationary lorry, tearing open the passenger side of the vehicle.

Strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Latif "Latz" Ayodele, both aged 36, were killed instantly as they occupied seats on the impact side of the car.

Joshua and the locally hired driver, positioned on the opposite side, narrowly escaped death.

Video footage captured the boxer in visible distress as rescuers helped him from the wreckage, with witnesses reporting he complained of severe leg pain.

Tributes have poured in from across the boxing world for the two men who played crucial roles in Joshua's career.

Boxing commentator Steve Bunce described Ghami and Ayodele as "massive parts of the Anthony Joshua machine," explaining: "He calls them his boys. They're more than that. They are friends."

Tyson Fury offered heartfelt condolences, saying of the victims: "This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven."

The British heavyweight later added: "I wish AJ a speedy recovery and would like to send my sincere condolences to the families of his friends."

Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn wrote: "With the heaviest of hearts. Two great men. Rest in eternal peace Sina and Latz."

Ghami's uncle, Shahryar Rumi, described his nephew as "an angel living amongst us."

Beyond the physical injuries, those close to Joshua harbour deeper concerns about his psychological recovery following the loss of two men who were constant presences throughout his rise to boxing stardom.

Ghami had worked alongside the Watford-born fighter for over a decade, helping prepare him for landmark bouts including his 2017 world title victory against Wladimir Klitschko.

The accident occurred just 10 days after Joshua earned a reported £70million from his knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami.

Plans for a long-anticipated showdown with British rival Fury, potentially worth £100m, are now said to be on hold.

Insiders suggest the emotional trauma and absence of his trusted corner team could cast doubt over any return to the ring in the coming year.

What Joshua ultimately decides remains to be seen.
