The two men are due to finally face off against each other early next year

Tyson Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, has slammed fans criticising the Gypsy King for postponing his fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

The 35-year-old had originally been due to step into the ring with the Ukrainian on December 23.

However, the fight is now due to be pushed back with an announcement expected to be made next week.

Fury needs more time to recover, having only just fought Francis Ngannou last weekend.

The Brit was the strong favourite to secure victory prior to their battle in Saudi Arabia.

Many didn't even give Ngannou a chance, with the 37-year-old making his boxing debut having previously made his name in MMA.

The former UFC star knocked Fury down in round three of their bout, shocking the world in the process.

However, fortunately for the Gypsy King, he was able to get back up and win via split decision.

Some have now slammed Fury for delaying the Usyk fight, especially after he'd said he'd potentially take legal action against the Ukrainian in the event of a delay.

But Warren, speaking to Seconds Out, has now hit back at the criticism surrounding his client.

“You know what, Usyk fought last August against AJ. Our team, Tyson, signed to do that fight in December," he stated.

"But it’s on in less than 18 months, unification for four belts.

"Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson took 10 years to happen. Lennox never fought Riddick Bowe.

"Pacquiao-Mayweather, how long did that take?

“So stop with all the nonsense and all the haters out there.

"Go and look at the history of these types of fights and how long they take to happen.

"This is happening, it’s signed. It will happen, it’s going to be exciting.”

Meanwhile, Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk has claimed he's relaxed over the fight with an announcement potentially due for next week.

“He’s absolutely ready to go and he knows how to deal with Tyson,” he stated.

“The only thing that I’m really concerned about is to make this fight happen.

"In the contract, it was December 23, but it’s a matter of common sense and common reason.

"If a fighter isn’t ready to go, you cannot make him.

“We would rather stay flexible, stay relaxed.

"We have settled already on the new date [in February] and next week, we’re going to announce it; hopefully, of course."

Both Fury and Usyk are yet to lose during the course of their careers.

The Brit has won 34 of his 35 fights so far, with a draw against Deontay Wilder in 2018 the only time he's failed to come out on top.

As for Usyk, the 35-year-old has won all 21 of his fights - with 14 of them coming via KO.

His last win was against Daniel Dubois back in August, with that fight taking place in Poland.
