The former Duchess of York appears to have been named multiple times in the files

Sarah Ferguson told Jeffrey Epstein to "marry me" just six months after the paedophile was released from jail, according to newly released emails.

The document is part of more than three million files published by the US Department of Justice.

Epstein had been released from Palm Beach County Jail in July 2009, having served 13 months for soliciting sex from young girls.

In the email, Ms Ferguson appeared to write: "You are a legend. I really don't have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."

The context behind the messages has not been explained in the files.

Separate emails appear to show the former Duchess of York offering Epstein and his friends VIP tours of Buckingham Palace.

While the convicted sex offender was still serving his sentence in June 2009, Fergie appeared to tell Epstein: "I can organise anything" after he requested that Fergie arrange a "VIP tour" or "access to something special" in London for Epstein's lawyer, Alan Dershowitz's daughter.

In another email from September 2009, Ms Ferguson appeared to suggest Epstein wed an unnamed woman with a "great body", adding: "Ok, well marry me, and then we will employ her."

Among the files are exchanges with someone known as "Sarah", whose email address is redacted.

Other emails appear to show the convicted sex offender complimented the former Duchess of York in front of her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

In a message sent on August 3, 2009, Fergie allegedly told Epstein she had "never been more touched by a friend's kindness".

Fergie appeared to write: "In just week, after your lunch, it seems the energy has lifted.

"I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls.

"Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for."

Ms Ferguson also appears to describe the paedophile as "a legend", adding "I am so proud of you" in separate emails sent in November of that year.

Other documents allegedly show Ms Ferguson inviting Epstein to Andrew's 50th birthday party at St James's Palace in February 2010.

The email said: "Beatrice, Eugenie and I would love to invite you to celebrate the 50 years of Papa/Andrew.

"It will be on February 26th 2010, from 7.30pm for Drinks and for 8.30pm for Dinner, at St. James's Palace, London.

"It will be suits and cocktail dresses, and you know me, mysterious mischief. So bring your presents. Your presence and your humour!"

Epstein appeared to reply "not able" after being chased for a response.

Ms Ferguson's alleged emails are not evidence of any wrongdoing, and their inclusion in the files does not implicate anyone in Epstein's criminality.

The former Duchess of York has previously made clear her regret of knowing Epstein, saying: "I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf… I will have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again."
