A royal expert has claimed that Prince William "can't be bothered" with Meghan and Harry because he has "bigger things on his plate" after his wife was diagnosed with cancer.

The pair's relationship has been strained since Harry moved overseas to the US with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020 and launched a series of attacks on the Royal Family in the form of interviews and his memoir Spare.

Recently Prince William has been taking care of his wife Kate after she began "preventative treatment" for cancer.

Speaking on GB News editor-at-large for the Mail on Sunday, Charlotte Griffiths said: "The idea that William is looking for a reconciliation is for the birds.

"This is a guy who has a lot of big things on his plate. He has two very sick relatives one of whom is his wife.

"He is planning to be the future King, who knows how long that could be. That must be at the forefront of his mind.

"He could be the King in the next few years and the idea that he's going to get bogged down by more psychodrama from his brother, from Montecito, from Meghan.

"I mean, he's just he's moved past all of that. He's actually past the angry stage.

"I'm hearing he just can't be bothered with those guys anymore."

Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer last month and released an emotional video statement to end the speculation surrounding her health after undergoing a "planned abdominal procedure" in January.

Kate revealed that following tests after the surgery, doctors discovered cancer "had been present", and so she has begun "preventative chemotherapy".

She also noted that "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance."

Harry is expected to return to the UK in May for the Invictus Games but there is speculation as to whether his wife Meghan Markle will attend the event with him.

However, Royal author Tom Quinn has recently claimed that Meghan has said that "until she feels that the Royal Family have been sufficiently nice to her - and grovelingly apologised for the past - it's not going to happen."

Griffiths explained: "I have to say, she is not coming with him.

"He is coming over to St Paul's for an Invictus Games event and it is a surprise she is not coming with him, it feels like a withdrawal of support.

"I think that she is just protecting herself because she knows that she is not very popular in this country.

"I do think that Tom may be pushing the boundaries to say that she is preventing an olive branch, to be honest."
