Prince William’s “second mum” brings a “sense of normality” for the prince during Kate’s cancer treatment, a source has claimed.

The prince’s mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, has been on hand to support the family during Princess Kate's health troubles.

A source has spoken about the multi-millionaire businesswoman’s relationship with the future King after they were spotted at a Norfolk pub together this week.

The Prince of Wales was seen with Carole Middleton during a “low-key” visit to the pub in North Norfolk.

The insiders told The Sun that Carole has “acted as a second mum to William bringing a sense of normality amid any chaos.”

Princess Kate announced her cancer diagnosis via a video message at the end of March revealing that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail about William’s recent outing with his mother-in-law: “I'm told he popped into a pub in North Norfolk at the weekend with his mother-in-law, who is said to have been staying with the Prince and Princess of Wales for Easter.

“A patron tells me: 'It was all very low-key, with no great fanfare. He just walked in and through the pub. He appeared to be with Carole Middleton.

“There was no sign of Catherine, who is being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer.”

Carole has previously spoken about her family being “paramount” and how they always “come first.”

The grandmother is thought to have stepped up by taking her grandchildren, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, to school.

A source close to the Middletons also recently spoke about how Carole is a “driving force” for Kate and William.

They said: “Carole has been the driving force keeping the family together with minimum fuss and maximum modesty.

“She’s ferried and fetched George, Louis and Charlotte, taken them to school sports matches and given them endless support.

“She’s been a real Mary Poppins-like figure.”

The source continued to tell The Independent: "Her actions are in huge contrast to those mouthing support from afar."
