A royal couple close to Princess Kate and Prince William announced they are expecting their first child.
Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan revealed the pregnancy through a statement on Wednesday.
The couple married last year in the capital of Jordan, Amman, in a magnificent ceremony attended by royals from around the world.
Amongst the guests were several British royals including Prince William, Princess Kate as well as Princess Beatrice, Kate’s mother Carole, and her sister, Pippa Middleton.
Princess Rajwa and Prince Hussein tied the knot in the summer of 2023GettyA statement from the Royal Hashemite Court read: “The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein are expecting their first baby this summer.
“The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on this occasion, and wishes Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein and Princess Rajwa good health and joy as they welcome their baby.”
On social media, the announcement was posted with a smiling photo of Hussein and Rajwa after marrying in 2023.
The couple were married in an Islamic ceremony known as ‘katb katb’ in the palace gardens with around 140 guests.

Other royals in attendance included Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary and Dutch royals King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Catharina-Amalia.
Hussein is a graduate of the UK’s Sandhurst Military Academy and is known to have a close bond with William.
In 2018, the Prince of Wales was hosted by Hussein during a solo trip to Jordan and stopped by his home at the King’s residence of Beit al Urdun to watch a football match.
Kensington Palace shared a picture of William watching the football match alongside Hussein on a reclined grey sofa.

Princess Kate lived in Jordan for three years as a child
ReutersAdditionally, Hussein’s mother, Queen Rania is a member of William’s Earthshot Prize Council.
Princess Kate also lived in Jordan for three years as a young child while her father was relocated there when he was working for British Airways.
In 2021, the Prince and Princess of Wales took their children to Jordan for a private holiday after William promised to take his family there after his 2018 visit.
Princess Rajwa is originally from Saudi Arabia and became a qualified architect after studying at Syracuse University in New York.
