'Extremely violent' drill rapper who escaped prison twice is caught in FRANCE after fleeing Britain in lorry

Arrangements are being made to return him to custody in the UK, while police aree trying to find anyone who may have assisted Boakye in his escape.

The Metropolitan Police believes he fled the UK by lorry after he took off from police custody on February 15 for the second time in a week.

In his most recent escape, he fled from Lewisham hospital, just months before he was due to be deported to Ghana.

Government sources said at the time his deportation was still being "actively pursued".

Boakye, who was being held at HMP Feltham, escaped for the first time while being treated at West Middlesex University Hospital on February 10.

He was under escort from the young offenders' institution and was serving a six-year sentence for a series of armed robberies.

A source familiar with the situation said Boakye, from Enfield in north London, was a serious threat to others.

"Although he is only in for robbery, Boakye is extremely dangerous and has links to serious gang members," the source told The Sun.

The source added: "Boakye is a gangster and his violence inside Feltham has been off the scale."

The source alleged the convicted robber had a history of having or pretending to have seizures, and said this could have been the reason he was at West Middlesex Hospital.

He was found after his first escape at a property in Thamesmead, southeast London, on Wednesday.

A man aged 30, two women aged 20 and 51, and a 15-year-old girl were all arrested in relation to Boakye's original escape attempt.

Boakye is a drill rapper who "boasts about violence" in his songs, the source said.

A video posted on Instagram during his period of freedom showed Boakye, who uses the drill name "Dsavv", performing.

Rapping in front of a screen which showed a news story about his first escape, the song included lyrics "I just broke out of jail like Modie", referring to a character from TV series Top Boy, and bragged about being "fresh home".

He was jailed in 2023 for being part of a gang which held victims at knifepoint to get phone passcodes, stealing a total of £115,000 in cryptocurrency.

The gang also stole bank details for taxis and top-up cards.

Boakye allegedly has links to London gang OFB, Original Farm Boys, based in the Broadwater Estate in Tottenham, north London.

Prisoners escapes have gone up in recent years, with 262 prisoners accidentally released in the 12 months to March 2025, compared to 115 in 2024.
