Former Candian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been accused of a disrespectful gesture towards King Charles after royal fans spotted his casual outfit choice.
Lawmakers and dignitaries gathered to observe Charles deliver a speech to mark the opening the Canada’s parliament.

The 53-year-old former PM paired his bizarre footwear choice with a more traditional navy-blue suit and grey tie.
After spotting his choice, royal fans took to social media to blast the move.
One declared on X: “Today at the throne speech of #Canada 's King Charles III, former PM Justin Trudeau proved he was still a clod who doesn't get it.”
“Totally disrespectful - Trudeau is a clown,” another fumed.

A third questioned: “Trudeau felt it was appropriate to wear those shoes to the Throne Speech?”
“Un-f***ing-believable,” a fourth raged.
Trudeau’s choice came in stark contrast to the finery and symbolic dress of the other guests.
Queen Camilla, who sat next to Charles during the milestone event, wore an all-navy blue ensemble with a Canadian Rifles brooch, a regiment for which she serves as colonel-in-chief.

The Queen’s outfit was also a tribute to her own familial connection to Canada, with her great-great-great-grandfather, Sir Allan Napier MacNab, serving as a prominent politician in the country.
Trudeau’s predecessor, Mark Carney, also chose a symbolic look – wearing his resplendent Order of Canada over his suit.
In his speech, King said: “Many Canadians are feeling anxious and worried about the drastically changing world around them.
"Canadians can give themselves far more than any foreign power on any continent can ever take away.

"And that by staying true to Canadian values, Canada can build new alliances and a new economy that serves all Canadians.”
After delivering the landmark speech, King Charles and Queen Camilla began their return home.
The royal couple issued a statement upon their departure: “As my wife and I leave Canada, we wanted to send our most heartfelt thanks to all those who turned out to offer their support on this, my first visit as sovereign," the King and Queen said.
"It was the warmest of welcomes - and the fondest of returns to a land and a people we love," they added, concluding with: "Until the next time, au revoir, Canada, et avec tous nos remerciements."
