King Charles has offered a "symbolic gesture" to Canada during his two-day visit as the monarch executes a "perfect balancing act" on the "delicate political tightrope", it has been claimed.

The King and Queen Camilla have received a warm welcome from royal fans and Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney, as the British head of state continued on his two-day tour of the nation.

The King noted the "critical moment" for Canada as he delivered an address to Parliament alongside Carney, amid the latter's ongoing feud with US President Donald Trump.

Discussing the presence of Britain's King in Canada as the dispute continues, royal commentator Helena Chard told GB News that the move proves Canada is "not alone" in their fight for sovereignty.

Chard told GB News host Martin Daubney: "It is the perfect balancing act, as doesn't he always when he's centre stage? I just think he has done a great, great job and I believe the feeling of 'Canada is not alone' in this fight does filter through, along with the symbolic gestures that we see continuously.

"I just think this has been great, and I have to say, the ceremonial side has been tremendous."

Defending the monarch against claims from critics that the King is "stepping into politics" by accepting Carney's invitation to visit, Chard claimed that Charles is delivering a "message of a proud, resilient country".

Chard explained: "It is a delicate tightrope, but I don't feel he's stepped into the political terrain. He's issuing the message in a way about the proud, resilient country.

"And I do feel in my heart that he is applauding the diversity, the multiculturalism and the democracy."

Highlighting King Charles's decision to make the visit despite his ongoing cancer treatment, Chard made clear the "tenacity" of the King's efforts to still make the journey for this historic event.

Chard told GB News: "He gave that speech impeccably, as he always does speaking French, and I cannot believe that he has flown out there.

"As we know he's having his cancer treatment, but it just shows his tenacity, how he wanted to be there, and wants to be a part of this. He wants everyone to feel together."

Delivering his speech to the Canadian Parliament today, he stated: "Many Canadians are feeling anxious and worried about the drastically changing world around them.

"Canadians can give themselves far more than any foreign power on any continent can ever take away."

He added: "And that by staying true to Canadian values, Canada can build new alliances and a new economy that serves all Canadians.

"Canada has embraced its British, French and indigenous roots and become a bold, ambitious, innovative country that is bilingual, truly multicultural and committed to reconciliation."
