Camilla should never have become Queen because the title is “confusing”, according to veteran entertainer Christopher Biggins.
The 77-year-old pantomime star said he remains a staunch monarchist but admitted he becomes frustrated when people refer to “the Queen”, arguing the title is too closely associated in his mind with Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking in a new interview, Mr Biggins said: “The Queen, Elizabeth, was my hero. The Queen.
“I get so angry, Camilla should never have become Queen, because I think it’s confusing.

“When they say, ‘The Queen said…’ I think, ‘I wonder why they’re bringing up Elizabeth.’”
Queen Camilla, 78, became Queen Consort following King Charles’s accession in September 2022 and formally adopted the title Queen Camilla after the Coronation in May 2023.
Buckingham Palace confirmed at the time that she would be known simply as Queen Camilla, in line with the late Queen’s expressed wishes.
While expressing confusion over Camilla’s title, Mr Biggins was far more positive when discussing the next generation of the Royal Family.

He praised Prince William and Princess Kate following a recent meeting at the Royal Variety Performance.
Mr Biggins admitted that he had not always been an admirer of Prince William but said his opinion changed after meeting the heir to the throne backstage at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19.
“I don’t know why, but I wasn’t,” he said of his previous feelings. “But recently I did the Royal Variety Show. I met him afterwards, and said: ‘I must tell you that this theatre, the Royal Albert Hall, is where years ago I took your mother to see Liza Minnelli, and your mother was just the most wonderful, incredible woman.’
“And he was really quite touched. He was charming.”

According to Mr Biggins, the Princess of Wales told him she had once played the Principal Boy as a child, revealing the role had been Dick Whittington.
Mr Biggins joked about the exchange, saying Kate wagged her finger at him and warned: “If you tell anyone that story…”
The veteran entertainer was far less sympathetic when discussing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

“I don’t feel sorry for Andrew,” Mr Biggins told the Telegraph. “I think if he’d been honest and said, ‘Yes, I had sex with that girl’ then none of this would have happened.”
Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing and said he does not recall meeting Virginia Giuffre.
Mr Biggins added that he believes the Royal Family “will never be the same again” following the controversy and predicted that Prince William would eventually “take out the scissors and cut things” within the family.
