The King and Queen travelled to Cornwall for the day

Queen Camilla made repeated attempts to vie for King Charles's attention on Tuesday afternoon during their trip to Cornwall.

His Majesty became so engrossed in conversation with volunteers at the Eden Project that he remained completely unaware of his wife's attempts to catch his eye.

Their Majesties toured the landmark site, which opened on March 17, 2001, meeting charity representatives and community groups from across Britain who had gathered for lunch at the venue famous for its enormous geodesic biomes.

The Queen, 78, was filmed delivering a series of prods to her husband in an attempt to divert his attention, trying both his arms and giving his waist a tap before finally managing to turn him around.

Video footage shared on social media prompted an outpouring of affection from viewers, with one commenting that it demonstrated "a normal healthy marriage", while another observed: "Just shows you doesn't matter if you're a King or not."

The relatable exchange resonated widely online, with fans noting such moments happen in households everywhere, regardless of royal status, with one joking: "They are all the same!!"

Charles was initially bewildered by the interruption but quickly understood when he spotted what awaited them a spectacular Victoria sponge decorated with a street party theme.

The elaborate cake featured miniature figures seated at tables, representing the Big Lunch and Big Help Out celebrations scheduled for June.

The couple were handed a sword to slice the impressive creation, cutting it together in a shared moment.

King Charles and Queen Camilla travelled to Cornwall to celebrate the Eden Project's quarter-century milestone.

As they explored the attraction built within a former clay pit, the King reflected on witnessing its remarkable development.

He said: "I remember when I first came here, there was nothing - amazing how it's developed and grown."

Following their Eden Project visit, the royal couple made their way to St Austell, where the King tried his hand at pulling a pint of Proper Job 0.5 per cent alcohol-free ale at the Market House.

The pair had earlier stopped at Holy Trinity Church to meet local community organisations.

Charles spoke to teenagers and adults from Young People Cornwall alongside faith leaders, while Camilla chatted with schoolchildren and library staff and volunteers.

Their day concluded with a walkabout outside, where hundreds of well-wishers had gathered along Market Hill, hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple.
