Princess Beatrice's husband has been accused of making an out of touch remark about buying property in London.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is the founder and chief executive of Banda Property, a luxurious company based in central London.

The pair married in 2020 after dating for just over a year, and they now live in an apartment in St James's Palace with their two-year-old daughter Sienna.

Edoardo also has an eight-year-old son from his previous relationship with American architect Dara Huang.

His property website reads: "Combining contemporaneity with timeless elegance, Banda interiors might seem like the finishing touch, when really they are just the beginning."

One of Edoardo's properties is a 10,000 sq ft house in Belgravia, with an asking price of £42million.

Edoardo told a property journalist last week: "I say to my friends, if you're going to live somewhere full time in London, it's Chelsea, Belgravia, Notting Hill or Holland Park."

Banda Property promotes these areas as the best in London, writing: "Here, life is about contentment in everyday rituals as much as the dazzling novelty of different experiences."

Their homes are described as "not just a place to be, but a place to stay, to cherish, to belong to".

Edoardo says he pictures a "happy family life within its interiors", which is demonstrated with his wife Beatrice, Wolfie and Sienna.

Princess Beatrice's husband admitted that most buyers purchase the contents and decor along with the property.

He said: "The majority of the time we do houses or apartments, people buy everything, because they are buying into what we do."

However, some labelled Edoardo's comments as pretentious, with one writing: "Like millions of others we live in a modest home in suburbia.

"There is free street parking for our small car and easy access to local parks and supermarkets. When we go into the city centre we can use the excellent, if expensive, public transport and be there in minutes.

"Why people pay ridiculous sums for a posh address is a mystery."

Another said: "It sums up the pretentiousness and greed of people in the high-end property market."

Similarly, another commented: "£42million for a townhouse? For that price, you can get several mansions in the country with a large amount of land. I know what I would rather have."

Edoardo and Beatrice began dating in 2019 and tied the knot the following year. The property developer previously dated Dara Huang for three years, and their son Wolfie (Christopher Woolf) was born in 2016.

Edoardo, Beatrice and Wolfie frequently appear at family gatherings like Christmas and Easter church services.
