Princess Anne is known for her love of recycling her royal fashion and she put it on display once again at the State Banquet on Wednesday.
The Princess Royal arrived in St George's Hall yesterday dressed in a cream-coloured coat she first wore nearly six decades ago.
The King's sister chose the floor-length garment for the Windsor Castle dinner hosted by King Charles in honour of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking the first Nigerian State Visit in almost 40 years.
Sharp-eyed observers of royal fashion quickly identified the coat as the same one Anne had worn as a teenager at 18 during a London film premiere in June 1969.

The remarkable 57-year gap between appearances has only strengthened her unofficial title as the 'Queen of Royal Recycling'.
Comparing photographs from both occasions reveals subtle modifications to the garment, though such alterations by royal dressmakers are common practice.
The collar has undergone the most noticeable transformation, originally featuring an elaborate design of concentric circles that has since been replaced with a plainer, more conventional style.
At the 1969 premiere of Run Wild, Run Free, the young princess wore the coat unfastened, displaying a decoratively patterned underlayer visible at both the neckline and hem.
With the coat buttoned closed on Wednesday, whether the inner layer still exists remains a mystery.
One element has survived the decades entirely intact: the distinctive circular pattern adorning the sleeves, matching the original design.

The Princess Royal has repeatedly returned to cherished items from her wardrobe throughout her public life, including coats, dresses, hats and handbags, sometimes recreating entire ensembles down to the jewellery and footwear.
Among her most notable repeat appearances is a turquoise dress, debuted during the 1978 state visit of Botswana's President Khama when Anne was 26, which has resurfaced at Royal Ascot in 2013 and during a 2024 visit to Dubai's Queen Elizabeth 2 hotel.
A lilac coat proved equally enduring, appearing on at least six separate royal engagements between 1982 and 2004.
