The annual show is a staple for the British Royal Family to attend

Members of the Royal Family turned out at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Thursday, with the Duchess of Edinburgh wrapping up warmly against the chilly spring conditions.

Sophie was photographed sheltering from the cool temperatures inside a buggy, having donned an impressive three layers of outerwear to combat the weather.

Princess Anne was also present at the show, where she was seen in conversation with jockey Katie Jerram Hunnable following her triumph aboard First Receiver in the RoR Tattersalls Thoroughbred Ridden Show series qualifier for flat horses.

The winning horse belongs to King Charles.

Prince Edward was also spotted at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, where he took the opportunity to view a piece of royal motoring history.

The Duke of Edinburgh was photographed examining a 1966 Land Rover Series IIa, a vehicle that holds particular significance as it was once used by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The classic Land Rover, now over six decades old, serves as a reminder of the late monarch's well-documented fondness for the British-made vehicles, which she famously drove around her country estates throughout her reign.

Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, the Duchess of Edinburgh maintained her characteristic good spirits and was seen smiling throughout her visit to the prestigious equestrian event.

The British royals are well accustomed to adapting their attire for unpredictable weather, often carrying transparent umbrellas to guard against unexpected showers.

The duchess's ensemble consisted of deep green wide-leg trousers paired with a brown blazer, over which she had added a padded black jacket, a camel-toned raincoat, and finished with a cream scarf.

Her outfit demonstrated a masterful approach to capsule dressing, with the neutral colour palette allowing each piece to work harmoniously together.

Sophie kept her blonde hair in a low plait to protect it from the elements, while her makeup remained understated and natural.

The royal has previously acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding her fashion choices, having transitioned from a PR career where the focus was entirely on her clients rather than herself.

Sophie has spoken about coming to terms with the public interest in her wardrobe, noting that while her work focuses on her charitable endeavours, she recognises being "on display" is part of her role.

"I sort of wrestled with that one for a little while and slightly caved in at the end of the day," she has said of accepting the attention paid to her clothing choices.
