Prince William and Catherine sent secret gift to Prince Harry's daughter Princess Lilibet

Unveiled by royal author Russell Myers in his new book, William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, "William and Catherine sent a gift and card of congratulations" on June 4, 2021, upon Lilibet being born.

Mr Myers did note that this "would be the extent of their contact" as the fallout between the brothers continued.

Mr Myers added: "One former courtier said that all talk of 'the other side' was effectively banned after the brothers honoured a previous agreement to come together at Kensington Palace to unveil a statue of their mother on July 1, on what would have been her 60th birthday."

Harry and William did not deliver individual speeches, but the Prince of Wales thought it would be best to release a joint statement.

The news follows the Duke of Sussex being left "frustrated by the comparisons" between him and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

On Thursday morning, Andrew was taken into custody at Wood Farm on the King's Sandringham estate in Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The allegations centre on claims he passed on confidential information whilst serving as a UK trade envoy.

King Charles's brother was released on Thursday evening after spending 11 hours in police custody on his 66th birthday.

A source close to the Duke of Sussex said: "In this moment, it's sad and embarrassing for the entire family."

The insider added regarding Prince Harry: "He was frustrated by the comparisons. It was never fair to lump them together.

"Harry served his country, did the job well and never engaged in misconduct, yet lost security and housing, while Andrew was protected for years."

In 2024, a report in The Times stated that Harry and Andrew were known as "the Dukes of Hazard" by royal courtiers.

Harry addressed Andrew's treatment directly in his 2023 memoir, Spare, recalling discussions with Meghan about the possibility of losing their palace security

He wrote that he never believed such a move would actually happen, particularly given that Andrew had retained his protection despite becoming embroiled in a scandal connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

The Duke noted that despite Andrew's situation, there was not a suggestion of stripping him of his security detail, yet he and Meghan ultimately lost theirs.

Harry and Meghan were stripped of publicly funded security following their decision to step back as senior royals in 2020, a move Harry has described as leaving his family exposed.

The source told People: "Harry believes in justice and accountability, that's very much in line with his character."

The Duke of Sussex did not comment when contacted by GB News.
