Prince William made a "direct request" to King Charles over Princess Kate's parents attending the Coronation, a new book has claimed.

King Charles and Queen Camilla's Coronation took place in May 2023 at Westminster Abbey.


The Prince and Princess of Wales sat in the front row at Westminster Abbey with William playing an active role in the ceremony.

Royal author Robert Hardman has claimed in his new book Charles III that the Prince of Wales asked the King for Kate's family to have prominent seats at the Coronation.

Hardman says it was a "direct request from the Prince of Wales himself".

The author adds: "Having all of them there was very important to him... he was absolutely insistent that his wife's family be properly included."

King Charles is reportedly considering appointing Kate as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter, the most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain.

The monarch personally chooses the members with key royals such as Prince William, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Prince Edward already part of the Order of the Garter.

Fitzwilliams backed the mooted promotion for the Princess of Wales.
