Prince William has announced a star-studded line-up for The Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro will host the Prince of Wales’s environmental awards ceremony on November 5, with singers Kylie Minogue and Shawn Mendes confirmed to attend the prestigious event.


Hollywood A-lister Matthew McConaughey has voiced the official trailer for the event.

The Earthshot Prize gathering marks a significant moment for environmental innovation, bringing together high-profile celebrities to support groundbreaking ecological initiatives.

The star-studded evening represents the pinnacle of the annual awards programme, which recognises pioneering solutions to global environmental challenges.

Each finalist presents solutions aimed at addressing critical planetary challenges, with the prize money intended to scale their initiatives globally.

Fifteen environmental innovators are competing for substantial financial backing of ÂŁ1million to advance their ecological projects.

McConaughey has lent his distinctive voice to a promotional film highlighting the finalists' work, declaring in the narration: "When the stakes are highest, that's when heroes rise."

The CEO of The Earthshot Prize expressed his delight at the assembled line-up.

Jason Knauf said: “With two weeks to go we are thrilled to announce the support of global artists, performers, and exceptional Brazilian talent, joining us in Rio.

“We will welcome to Brazil a host of global leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and young people from around the world, who share our ambition and optimism, and we can’t wait to reveal our Winners on 5 November in what is set to be the greatest Earthshot yet.”

Kylie Minogue added: “Brazil – I’m coming back! It’s a privilege and honour to be part of The Earthshot Prize in Rio – on stage with the people and the ideas that could save our planet.”

Additionally, Brazilian supermodel and environmental campaigner Gisele BĂĽndchen has become the inaugural Brazilian representative on The Earthshot Prize Council.

The former Victoria's Secret Angel joins an illustrious roster of council members that includes Prince William, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, actress Cate Blanchett, and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

She will participate in selecting this year's five prize winners during a judging session chaired by Dame Christiana Figueres, the architect of the Paris Climate Agreement.

BĂĽndchen has collaborated extensively with the United Nations Environment Programme, spearheading awareness initiatives on their behalf.

The model has also championed reforestation programmes, sustainable farming practices and wildlife preservation schemes across Brazil and internationally.

Through her Luz Foundation, BĂĽndchen directs resources towards environmental protection alongside women's empowerment, children's welfare, education and healthcare initiatives.
