Prince Harry will return to Britain to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex has only returned to Britain on a few occasions since his departure from royal life, arriving for major events such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in 2022 and his father's coronation in May 2023.

His spokesperson said Harry would attend a service at St Paul's Cathedral in London on May 8 to celebrate the Invictus Games, the international sporting event that he founded for military personnel wounded in action.

Harry will then be joined in Nigeria by wife Meghan Markle.

A spokesman for the Invictus Games confirmed the Duke’s attendance but did not mention the Duchess of Sussex or their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They are not expected to attend.

Other senior members of the Royal family are not expected to attend.

Neither the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex nor Buckingham Palace confirmed any plans for Prince Harry to meet his father, although both have made clear their willingness to spend time together should their diaries permit.

The Duke of Sussex was last seen in Britain in February this year for a brief meeting with his father after the monarch announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

The palace said on Friday that King Charles would return to public duties after he made good progress following treatment and a period of recuperation.

Harry's spokesperson said the couple had been invited to Nigeria by the country's chief of defence staff, its highest ranking military official.

Local newspapers reported that Defence Headquarters was "honoured" and "delighted" after Harry and Meghan, who is of Nigerian descent, had accepted the invitation.

Harry and Meghan moved to the US in 2020 after stepping down from royal duties.

In February, Meghan made a surprise announcement with a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media after the couple’s split with Spotify.

Fast forward to March and the duchess revealed a new Instagram page and website for her luxury lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard where it has since been found that Meghan will be selling a range of products.

Finally, the couple announced they are releasing two new series on Netflix as part of their deal with the major streaming platform.
