Meghan Markle’s close friend has revealed a surprise from Prince Harry during an off-camera moment filming the royal’s Netflix special.

The Duchess of Sussex released her With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration earlier this week.

The special saw a host of Meghan’s friends make appearances, with one highlighting a sweet moment involving Prince Harry.

Lindsay Jill Roth joined the Duchess for the wreath-making segment of the Netflix show.

Ms Roth and Meghan have known each other for more than 25 years, first meeting in a literature class.

Ms Roth revealed that even though Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet did not feature in the Netflix special, they came to set alongside Prince Harry.

She recalled: “I don't get to see them all the time now, so I got to have Archie with me when I was making my wreath and he helped me put a few little things on.

“Getting to see him and give him big cuddles and give Harry a big hug and just have a few moments with them was such a nice surprise.”

She also spoke about the atmosphere on set: “The vibe was amazing. Meg was already filming when I arrived, but as soon as I walked in, Daniel Martin (makeup artist), gave me a big hug and welcomed me to set.

"Then I saw Jake Rosenberg (photographer) who was there taking photos — we’ve all been friends for years — and he gave me another big hug.

“It instantly felt like a family day. So warm, so fun, so easy. We were just ourselves."

Ms Roth opened up about her long friendship with the duchess to People, as she revealed: “We haven't always lived in the same place at the same time, but we find ourselves connected through the same interests, or we'll be thinking the same thing at the same time and message each other about it.

“We laugh a lot. There's just always been that level of support for each other. When you find someone that you are just 100 per cent yourself with, it's rare.”

Having never made a wreath before, Ms Roth was wary going into the filming but said: “It could have been a disaster, but they did look beautiful, you could see our different styles coming through.”

While the show may have debuted to negative reviews, Ms Roth believes that hosting is one of Meghan’s passions: “She'd be staying with me, and she'd go into my fridge, and she'd pull out five things, and suddenly I'd have a beautiful dinner on my table of all these disparate things that actually make a beautiful dish that I would've never thought of.

“And not only would she throw something on the stove and cook a beautiful meal, but it would look really pretty too.

“It's always been one of her outlets, so to see her combining that with being on set, which is also something she loves, is great to watch."

This news comes as Markle has also "has reached out to her father" after he underwent "life-saving treatment" in which he is said to have had his leg amputated, on Friday, after her brother had urged the duchess to reach out.

A spokesman for the Duchess of Sussex told GB News: "I can confirm she has reached out to her father."

The People's Channel believes that Meghan has tried to contact her father in the past, after being estranged from Thomas Markle since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

Thomas Markle Jr, confirmed his father had the operation on Thursday, saying: "My dad is being very brave. His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly.

"I took him to a local hospital, and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated.

"There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed, and it was a case of life or death."
