Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's partnership with Netflix has provided the streaming giant with a "halo" of credibility, according to a television executive.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a lucrative deal with the streaming giant after they stepped down as working members of the Royal Family.

On August 30 2023, Prince Harry's documentary following the 2022 Invictus Games in The Hague dropped on the streaming platform.

Heart of the Invictus failed to achieve the same level of success as the Sussexes' debut series.

However, a television executive has claimed that an added benefit of Meghan and Harry's partnership is the credibility it gives the platform's royal content, in particular The Crown.

They told the Daily Beast: "Royal content is massive for them and they probably would have signed Harry and Meghan for the documentary anyway.

"But The Crown is one of their biggest shows and signing Harry and Meghan certainly had a halo effect on its credibility."

It comes as Netflix is preparing to release the final season of The Crown, a drama based on events within the Royal Family.

Prince William and Prince Harry's mother Princess Diana, who died in 1997 following a car crash in Paris, will be portrayed in the series as a ghost.

The Prince of Wales is said to be angered by his brother's continued collaboration with Netflix.

A friend of the Prince William told the Daily Beast: "William is angry about a lot of things in connection with Harry.

"His decision to work with Netflix, who have ruthlessly exploited the family, is certainly one of them."

They added: "It’s incredibly hurtful to have his mother exploited over and over again in this tawdry fashion by Netflix.

"He won’t watch it, but he will be totally sickened by it."
