Meghan Markle had a brief, awkward encounter with fashion designer Pierpaolo Piccioli during her surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, leaned in to greet the newly appointed Balenciaga creative director but accidentally bumped heads with him as she went to offer congratulations on his spring/summer 2026 womenswear debut.
The moment, caught on camera, showed the pair laughing as Piccioli brushed off the mishap before taking her hand for a photo.
After the exchange, Meghan thanked him and the two shared a quick hug.

A spokesperson later said the Duchess has “long admired” Mr Piccioli’s “craftsmanship and modern elegance.”
Travelling solo from Montecito, Meghan attended the show to support her long-time friend, marking her first appearance at Paris Fashion Week and her first trip to Europe since the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany.
She was seen warmly greeting Vogue’s global editorial director Dame Anna Wintour and exchanging a kiss on the cheek with film director Baz Luhrmann.
For the occasion, Meghan wore an elegant white ensemble — a silk shirt, tailored trousers and a flowing cape — with her hair styled in a sleek bun.

|She later shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of her trip with her 4.2 million Instagram followers, posting a short clip of her walk to the venue and another video of Paris by night, filmed from the back seat of a car.
This video sparked controversy due to Meghan filming footage near the site of Princess Diana's 1997 death.
Meghan previously attended fashion events in New York and Toronto during her acting career on Suits.
However, Saturday’s outing marked her return to the high-fashion circuit after more than a decade.
A spokesperson for the Duchess said: “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attended the Balenciaga show in Paris on Saturday night in support of Pierpaolo Piccioli, who recently assumed the role of creative director for the house.
“This marks her first time back to the shows in over a decade. Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo.
“They have worked closely together on design for key moments on the world stage.
“She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different.
“This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
Meghan’s all-white outfit was a creation by Balenciaga, the fashion house Mr Piccioli joined in 2024.
The designer previously worked for Valentino for 25 years, a brand the Duchess has worn several times, including at the 2022 Invictus Games opening and during her 2019 royal visit to Morocco.
Meghan’s appearance was kept under wraps until moments before the show began, with her arrival sparking a flurry of attention from photographers and guests inside the venue.
The Duchess was seated in the front row among other high-profile attendees as Balenciaga unveiled its latest collection under Piccioli’s direction.
Her brief trip to the French capital was reportedly centred around supporting the designer, whom she has known for several years through her previous collaborations with Valentino.
Fashion commentators noted that her minimalist white look echoed her recent preference for refined, understated tailoring rather than bold prints or embellishments.
After the show, Meghan returned to her hotel for a private dinner before flying back to California the following day.
