Labour Ministers have confirmed there is “no need” to implement legislation to remove titles from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor despite him remaining the Duke of York by law.
King Charles made the unprecedented announcement to strip his brother of his royal titles on October 30, and followed through with doing so earlier this month.
The decision was taken due to the former duke’s links with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The monarch also confirmed that Andrew had been removed from the Roll of the Peerage as the Duke of York.

However, according to an expert Commons research briefing, his removal from the list only means he cannot be referred to by the title in official documents and does not remove the peerage itself.
Ministers have already considered that removing the honour would require an Act of Parliament.
Labour frontbencher Baroness Anderson of Stoke-on-Trent revealed: “Following the statement made by Buckingham Palace on October 30, the entitlement to the title of ‘Prince’ and the style of ‘Royal Highness’ has been removed by Letters Patent.
“The title of the Duke of York has been removed from the Roll of the Peerage and will no longer be used officially.
“There is therefore no need for legislation to implement the measures that have been announced.”
The news comes just a day after the disgraced royal was spotted sneaking out of Royal Lodge to ride horses.
Locals had claimed that Andrew had been to the royal stables three to four times a week “as regular as clockwork,” before the intense scrutiny about his links to Epstein had left him in hiding since October 3.

A royal insider has revealed that King feels he has a “duty of care” to his brother despite removing his titles.
They said: “I gather Andrew and Fergie are both feeling the strain. Their family and friends are worried about their mental health and the King does feel he has a duty of care to his brother.
“He’s been holed up at Royal Lodge for weeks.

“It’s really not a good look. The King won’t be happy that his brother has been photographed riding in the grounds of Windsor Castle which after all is funded by the taxpayer.
“That move to Sandringham can’t come soon enough to get him away from Windsor.”
