His Majesty reiterated that Britain 'stands with' Ukraine

King Charles has praised Ukraine's "bravery, courage and resilience" in a powerful message as His Majesty reiterated Britain's commitment to supporting the nation.

Charles, 77, wrote about his hopes for a lasting peace that safeguards Ukraine's "security, sovereignty and prosperity" amid Russian aggression.

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy travelled to Ukraine, according to reports, for a forum of the centenary partnership, to discuss the details of future cooperation between the two nations.

The UK has strongly supported the nation since Russia's invasion in February 2022, with multiple Prime Ministers hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The King welcomed Mr Zelensky to Sandringham in March after the President attended a summit of European leaders on ending the war and met with him again at Windsor Castle in October 2025.

In his message posted across social media, His Majesty wrote: "As we celebrate the first anniversary of the 100-year partnership between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, I do pray that the flourishing bonds between our two countries may bring some hope and moral support at this most difficult time.

"Ukraine's most valiant strength in the face of such appalling hardship and pain is an extraordinary example to the world, and I am constantly impressed by the sheer bravery, courage and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people.

"As we also look ahead to the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of your beloved country - a time of great anguish, I know, for many families across Ukraine and the world - my wife and I continue to keep you all in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers."

"We stand with you. Slava Ukraini. Charles R."

His Majesty has publicly supported Ukraine since the early period of Russia's invasion, meeting with Ukrainians who have sought sanctuary in the UK.

It is estimated that around 255,000 Ukrainians have fled to the UK since the start of the war.

Charles's recent Christmas Day broadcast featured a Ukrainian choir singing songs such as Carol Of The Bells.

The UK-Ukraine partnership, established through a treaty and a political declaration, includes several key pillars designed to strengthen military cooperation on maritime security.

It will include collaboration in healthcare, disease control, agricultural technology, and the space sector.

Ties between the two countries will also be strengthened through cultural exchanges and classroom projects.
