King Charles will look to relocate the central hub of the Royal Family to Windsor Castle over Buckingham Palace in the coming years, a former royal butler has claimed.
Grant Harold pointed to the already reduced amount of time the monarch is spending at Buckingham Palace and the upcoming move of the Prince and Princess of Wales into Forest Lodge as key indicators of the upcoming change.
Mr Harold told GB News in collaboration with OLBG: “I think Windsor will become their full base going forward.
“The late Queen Elizabeth II made Windsor Castle her official residence after the Covid pandemic.

“Partly because she’d spent a lot of time there, but also because of the renovation works at Buckingham Palace.
“The King is hardly using Buckingham Palace at all now. While Buckingham Palace is under renovation, I think there’s more to it than that. Being a traditionalist, the King loves Windsor.
“He’s been doing a lot at Windsor for years, especially in the gardens. Windsor is becoming more of an ‘official’ residence of the King. It’s where all the big events are taking place.”
The former royal butler added: “The Prince and Princess of Wales moving in very nearby adds to this theory, especially as it’s said to be their ‘forever home’. I think William will use Windsor as his official base as well.
“They will, of course, still use London for certain events, but I think it will become like Palaces elsewhere in Europe, where it's more of a visitor and historical place.”

Prince William spoke of the significance of Windsor Castle as he gave Eugene Levy a tour of the royal residence in a new episode of Apple TV’s The Reluctant Traveler.
The Prince of Wales revealed that spending time at Windsor Castle reminds him of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
He told Mr Levy: “Particularly being in Windsor, for me Windsor is her. She loved it here, she spent most of her time here.
“Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it.
“She had her horses here as well, as you can imagine that was a big deal for her so that’s why she loved it here.”

Prince William’s new home, Forest Lodge in Windsor Park, will be a substantial upgrade from Adelaide Cottage, featuring eight bedrooms across three storeys compared to their current four-bedroom accommodation.
The property contains six bathrooms, a long gallery, and underwent £1.5 million worth of renovations in 2001.
Forest Lodge has been part of the Crown Estate since 1829, and it previously housed royal staff members, including equerries and private secretaries.
Sources close to the couple emphasise that their 2022 relocation from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage served as a trial period to assess whether the area suited their family's needs.
