King Charles has left hospital after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate

Royal Biographer Angela Levin has revealed who she believes could step up to take on royal duties, as King Charles and Princess Kate begin their recovery from their surgeries.

King Charles left hospital on Monday after undergoing a "corrective procedure" for a benign enlarged prostate.

The Princess of Wales is also recovering at home after spending 13 days at The London Clinic hospital.

Princess Kate had a successful "planned abdominal procedure" and is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter.

Prince William has also postponed current planned royal engagements while he looks after Princess Kate and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Prince Harry has not publicly spoken out in support of his family since their health updates were released in statements.

However, an insider has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reached out to the family privately.

Discussing the latest on the Royal Family's health concerns, biographer Angela Levin says the situation as been made more "difficult" for the King, as he continues with his slimmed down monarchy and fewer working royals.

Levin told GB News America: "He didn't know he was going to be unwell or that Catherine would too, he didn't have that in mind.

"But I think it's also very, very difficult to choose who he would have. He's got his sister Princess Anne, who's always there, works hard, incredibly hard and only does slightly less engagements than him."

Levin continued: "That's been terrific as well because they just get on with things, Sophie and Edward.

"But then you come to whether he should have his other brothers and children and Prince Andrew's daughters, and that's very difficult because you don't know whether they, who are quite friendly with Harry, would maybe leak something or whether it would be awkward because of the problems that Prince Andrew is still having."

Revealing her top choice for which royal could take part in more royal engagements in the King and Princess's absence, Levin said: "My own view is that he could have Zara, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, because she and her husband Mike, who comes also from an ordinary background, but fits in beautifully with the Royal Family. He could do it very well.

"They're very popular, they're very nice, they're jolly, they're honourable, they're loyal to all the royal family. So he could do that."

Levin admitted: "I think he's trying to save the country money, but it might not be worthwhile. My heart sank when I heard that he was going into hospital.

"Because the thought of having Harry sort of signing papers and making decisions is too much. It's too much for anyone. It was just too much."
