Princess Kate is "creating a lasting tribute" to Princess Diana through her sapphire jewellery, an expert has claimed.
The Princess of Wales appeared to honour her late mother-in-law during a visit to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire last week.
Jewellery expert James Harris, Regional Sales Manager at Austen & Blake, spoke exclusively to GB News about the future queen's royal outing.
Mr Harris said the princess’s sapphire earrings and engagement ring created “a cohesive look” that balanced tradition, symbolism and sentiment.

He explained: “The princess's choice of jewellery creates a cohesive look with her choice of earrings and iconic engagement ring.
“Both designs feature blue sapphires, a stunning gemstone that has long been associated with royalty.”
Kate visited RAF Coningsby on October 2, 2025, in her role as Royal Honorary Air Commodore, meeting personnel, viewing Typhoon aircraft and touring training facilities.
She wore a Bella Freud Prince of Wales check suit, consisting of the brand’s "Earl" blazer and matching "School Boy" trousers, paired with a grey Alexander McQueen ribbed-knit top.

Her accessories included Gianvito Rossi navy suede heels, a Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, and the Royal Air Force wings brooch, worn in recognition of her honorary position.
Mr Harris noted that the earrings are “remarkably similar to a pair owned by Princess Diana”.
He continued: “It adds further sentiment to her selection when paired with her engagement ring, which was also once owned by the late Princess.”
He explained that Princess Diana had been photographed wearing similar sapphire earrings both as studs and drop earrings at a number of royal engagements.

Mr Harris explained: “Wearing memorial jewellery is a beautiful way of honouring a loved one’s memory while creating a lasting tribute.”
The sapphire and diamond cluster earrings were worn alongside Kate’s sapphire engagement ring.
The sparker was famously chosen by the late Princess Diana in 1981, following her betrothal to then-Prince Charles.
Kate and Diana are forever connected through the sapphire engagement ring, which Prince William used to propose to his future wife in 2010.

During the visit to RAF Coningsby, Kate met Royal Air Force personnel and their families, learning more about the base’s engineering and training programmes.
