Princess Kate and Prince William's close friend is hired by Jeff Bezos

Singer Ellie Goulding performed at both high-profile receptions, singing the same song at each celebration.

The Grammy-nominated artist performed her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" at the billionaire couple's reception on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

She had previously sung the same rendition for William and Kate's first dance at their second wedding reception in Buckingham Palace's Throne Room on April 29, 2011.

The choice of "Your Song" carries particular significance for the Royal Family, as Elton John was famously a close friend of William's mother, Princess Diana. John also performed at the late Princess of Wales's funeral in September 1997.

At the Bezos-Sánchez reception, Goulding's performance was part of a star-studded musical lineup. Matteo Bocelli, son of opera singer Andrea Bocelli, sang Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" for the couple's first dance.

The royal wedding featured two receptions - a lunchtime affair hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and the more intimate evening celebration hosted by then-Prince Charles, where Goulding performed.

Goulding reflected on the royal performance in a 2012 interview with the Mail, admitting: "Performing the first dance of the night, 'Your Song' was nerve-wracking."

She added: "But William and Kate were very appreciative. They are an awesome couple and told me how much they enjoyed it. My band and I stayed at the reception all night, and it's something I'll treasure forever."

The singer revealed she had met William before the wedding and discovered they were fans of her music. However, she was shocked when the performance offer came through.

"I knew they liked my songs, but I didn't walk away from meeting William thinking it might lead to a gig at Buckingham Palace," she recalled.

The Venice celebration featured additional performances from Usher, who sang his hit "Yeah," alongside sets by DJ Cassidy, DJ Kygo and DJ Mei Kwok.

The guest list included Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Goulding's connection to the royals continued beyond their wedding. She reunited with William and Kate in December 2022, performing at the prince's Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in Boston.

The parallel performances highlight an unexpected British-American cultural crossover, with Goulding serving as the musical link between a royal wedding and what Sánchez's brother described as being "like a Princess Di thing."
