The Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot in 2011

Princess Kate added a deliberate festive note to this year’s Together at Christmas carol service with a piece of significant jewellery, according to a fashion commentator.

The Princess of Wales hosted the service at Westminster Abbey on December 5, marking one of her most high-profile engagements in the run-up to Christmas.

The annual event, launched by the Princess in 2021, has become a fixed part of the royal calendar.

It is intended to recognise individuals and communities across the UK who have shown compassion, kindness and service over the past year.

For the service, the Princess arrived wearing a deep green Catherine Walker coat with a faux fur collar from Troy London.

She paired these items with a crystal-embellished tartan skirt by Miu Miu.

The mother of three completed the look with diamond star-drop earrings, which she has worn on previous occasions.

Tobias Kormind, Managing Director at 77 Diamonds, told GB News the Princess’s decision to rewear the earrings was a deliberate nod to the theme of the service, and her marriage to Prince William.

He said: "For the Together at Christmas carol service, the Princess of Wales opted to rewear her diamond star-drop earrings, adding a touch of festive shimmer to her green ensemble.

"Designed by the jewellers who created her wedding earrings, the stars nodded to the service’s poignant theme: love in all its forms, while also thoughtfully alluding to the strength and longevity of her partnership with the Prince of Wales.

"The rewear lent a note of personal sentiment to the occasion, reflecting on the earliest days of her public life."

The earrings were designed by Robinson Pelham, the London-based jeweller responsible for the Princess’s wedding earrings in 2011, which she wore when marrying Prince William at Westminster Abbey.

The brand has remained closely associated with her public wardrobe.

Princess Kate previously wore Robinson Pelham star-drop earrings at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 and diamond drop earrings from the same jeweller at a Buckingham Palace garden party in 2025.

The Princess of Wales has frequently opted to rewear jewellery with personal or historical significance for major royal occasions rather than debut new pieces.

This approach has been noted at state events, remembrance services and family appearances, where items linked to earlier moments in her royal life are often repeated.

Kate's decision to rewear the star-drop earrings was likely to place the focus on continuity and remind royal watchers of the times she had worn the jewels previously.

This year’s Together at Christmas service focused on people and communities across the UK, with the theme "love in all its forms".

Guests included volunteers, charity workers and individuals recognised for their contribution to community life, with readings and performances reflecting the central message of connection and support.
