Princess Kate is "preparing to be Queen" with a "confident choice" on Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Princess of Wales, who celebrated her 42nd birthday today, is said to be dedicated to "serving the public and raising her children".

Kinsey Schofield, a royal commentator, explained how Kate is making "confident choices" through her parenting as she prepares for her future role as Queen.

She said: "The Princess of Wales is stoic, stays above the fray, and focuses on her job... which is serving the public and raising her children.

"While I am confident that she will continue to prioritise motherhood, we can look forward to her becoming a much bigger part of the royal agenda."

The princess was previously criticised for only completing 123 engagements last year.

This was less than the Duke of Gloucester, aged 79, who carried out a whopping 172 engagements in 2023.

Schofield believes this was an intentional choice by Kate who is "preparing to be Queen".

She added: "I believe we are seeing Catherine prepare to be Queen in the stance she's taken to be more hands-on with her children.

"That is a confident choice she made. She has faced a significant amount of criticism over it and she refuses to change course.

"Catherine's circle has become increasingly smaller over the last decade and spending time with people she can count on is crucial as she starts a new year."

The royal commentator explained how the princess likely celebrated her birthday today.

Schofield continued to tell The Star: "Catherine will spend her birthday surrounded by the people she loves the most – her family.

"Expect warm hugs from her mum and dad.

"I wish I could predict a sparkly surprise from Prince William but he doesn't get anything passed the Princess of Wales these days.

"She knows him like the back of her hand!"
