Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will use Sussex as their surname.
Rather than being known as Mountbatten-Windsors, Archie and Lilibet have been known as Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex since King Charles's Coronation in May 2023.
It comes as Meghan and Harry launched their new website Sussex.com in a major rebrand this week.
A source said regarding the decision to rebrand under the Sussex title: "The reality behind the new site is very simple — it’s a hub for the work the Sussexes do and it reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s Coronation, the same surname for the first time.

They told the Times: "That’s a big deal for any family. It represents their unification and it’s a proud moment."
This week the couple were defended after a storm erupted over the name of their new website.
Harry and Meghan are no longer working members of the Royal Family but have been allowed to retain their Sussex titles.
The use of Sussex in the name of their website has sparked a backlash from those close to the Royal Family.

However, a source close to Sussexes has hit out at criticism of the couple's choice of name for their website.
They told the Mail: "Prince Harry and Meghan are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That is a fact. It is their surname and family name."
Earlier this week, a royal insider claimed Meghan and Harry were facing "real trouble" over their decision to incorporate the royal title into their new website.
The insider said: 'They are going to have real trouble with the use of Sussex.
