'It looks to me like someone who had several basal cells, skin cancers removed from his head,' the man who caught Mr Biden on camera said

Joe Biden has been spotted with a "noticeable" red mark on his head amid a months-long battle with cancer.

The former President, now 82, was caught on camera leaving a church in Delaware with an inches-long scar on the right side of his scalp.

In the clip, shared online by political consultant and activist Fred Karger, Mr Biden can be seen slowly greeting churchgoers in Rehoboth City.

Mr Karger told Inside Edition: "I was a little surprised, because it’s a noticeable scar.

"It looks fresh, a little hair combed over the scar. It looks to me like someone who had several basal cells, skin cancers removed from his head."

The one-term President was later confirmed to have undergone surgery to remove several skin cancer lesions.

Mr Biden's spokeswoman Kelly Scully said he had received Mohs surgery, a procedure used to cut away skin until no evidence of cancer remains.

He is also receiving treatment for prostate cancer, a diagnosis which he announced back in May.

His cancer has been given a Gleason score of nine (Grade Group 5), meaning his illness is classified as "high-grade" and the cancer cells could spread quickly, according to Cancer Research UK.

Footage of Mr Biden's head scar emerged shortly after images of him in Delaware with a bandage on his head came to light.

The 82-year-old's health woes follow a series of cancer operations in recent years.

While he was in office, Mr Biden had a lesion removed from his chest which was later confirmed as a basal cell carcinoma.

Dr Kevin O'Connor, his doctor at the time, confirmed that all the cancerous tissue was removed and no further treatment was required.

Dr O'Connor also deemed him "fit to serve" in February 2024.

But news of his treatment attracted the scorn of Vice President JD Vance earlier this year.

Mr Vance, who had fired off warnings over Mr Biden's health and mental acuity on the campaign trail, asked in May: "Why didn't the American people have a better sense of his health picture?

"Why didn't the American people have more accurate information about what he was actually dealing with? This is serious stuff."

However, the VP also wished his forerunner in office "the right recovery".

Mr Biden's prostate cancer diagnosis also raised eyebrows over its timing - just as a book about his "decline" was set to be released.

That book, "Original Sin", is billed as "revealing the extent of Biden's decline and who knew about it, from White House staffers to senators to Hollywood celebrities" by publishers Penguin.
