'Unauthorised' migrants made up a quarter of the foreign-born US population under Mr Biden, damning new data shows

More than one million illegal migrants flooded into America's "swing states" in just two years under Joe Biden, a damning new report has found.

Fresh data from the Pew Research Center has found that the US illegal migrant population surged to some 14 million people in 2023 after two years of "record growth".

By the end of that year, so-called "unauthorised immigrants" made up more than one in 25 of the total US population, and over a quarter of its foreign-born population.

The Pew study specifically blamed Biden-era immigration policy changes for a "sharp rise" in both legal and illegal migration.

"Our elections are bad, and a lot of these illegal immigrants coming in, they're trying to get them to vote," Donald Trump warned during his presidential debate with Kamala Harris last year.

And a state-by-state breakdown has revealed just how many illegals were brought in to the "swing states" - the states in the US where presidential elections can be won and lost.

Traditional toss-up Florida saw its illegal migrant population surge by 700,000, according to the Pew data, while 2024 swing state Georgia's "unauthorised" migrant population soared by 100,000.

Elsewhere, northern battlegrounds Pennsylvania and Michigan added some 80,000 illegal migrants each in just two years.

North Carolina's illegal population rose by 100,000, and Ohio's jumped by 70,000.

In Arizona, 50,000 illegal aliens arrived in two years under Mr Biden's watch, while Nevada and Wisconsin both took in around 30,000 illegal migrants.

Mr Trump went on to win all seven 2024 swing states on his road back to the White House.

Now in power, the President has ramped up his efforts to decrease the migrant population - both legal and illegal.

His administration has announced that it will be conducting a review into all 55 million US visa-holders, opening the door to deporting more people than the entire population of Spain.

The State Department announced on Thursday that any US visa-holders discovered with “indicators of overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organisation” would have their right to stay revoked.

Data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) shows that border crossings have dropped, arrests have doubled, and the number of people in detention is at an all-time high under Mr Trump.

Meanwhile, the US has struck deals with Uganda to take in African and Asian "asylum seekers" from the US-Mexico border, and Honduras, which will receive several hundred deportees from Spanish-speaking countries.
