The special televised event is one of a number taking place on the UK's Election Channel this year

Record numbers watched the GB News People’s Forum with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last night, industry data reveals.

The special televised event had a peak audience of 184,000 according to BARB - bigger than the BBC News channel and Sky News audiences combined.

GB News had an average of 153,000 viewers during the grilling, a record audience total for the 8pm hour.

Meanwhile on digital, 'GB News People’s Forum' content has amassed more than five million views and continues to rapidly rise.

The live broadcast from County Durham saw the Prime Minister grilled by a live audience on issues which matter to them.

Respected pollsters, Survation, chose an audience of undecided voters to ask questions to the Conservative leader.

It saw the Prime Minister confronted by voters on immigration, housing, Covid vaccines and trans policy among others.

The event kicked off a series of special broadcasts planned across the channel this year, as the clock ticks down to the General Election.

GB News has invited Keir Starmer to participate in a forum where voters will be able to quiz the Labour leader on his vision for Britain.

Reflecting on the success of the event, GB News Editorial Director Michael Booker said: "The People's Forum has clearly struck a chord with the public. They've seen it's an ideal place for their voices to be heard.

"The Prime Minister faced some tough questioning from the people that really matter and we hope Sir Keir Starmer will also take up the opportunity."
