Reform UK Deputy Leader Richard Tice has announced plans to adopt an "SAS-style approach" to councils following the party's significant electoral breakthrough.
The comments come as Reform UK has secured control of several councils in the local elections so far.
Reform leader Nigel Farage has described the outcome as proof that Reform is now the main opposition, following what he called a collapse in votes for both Labour and the Conservatives.
Speaking to GB News, Reform UK's Richard Tice said: "We’ve got dozens of councils up and down the country teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.

"So what I’m saying is, we need to adopt a SAS-style approach to this. We’ve got to save money.
"We’ve got to audit the finances open the books, see what’s going on, open up all the contracts, and find out what’s been badly procured."

He added: "We’ve got great skills. We come from a variety of backgrounds.
"We're not wannabe party corporate apparatchiks or greasy pole climbers. Our candidates have been around the block. And so, yeah, I’m confident we can do it."
"Are we going to be perfect? No, of course not. Of course we'll make mistakes. But what you will get is a degree of honesty.
"When we dig into the books, we’ll find out where all the money’s gone."

"The boats 34,000-plus have crossed the Channel since the election. Mass low-skilled immigration suppressing wages.
"These things weigh on people, as well as the cost of bills and the cost of living caused by net stupid zero."
"So, we are making serious progress. There are lots of issues to take on lots to take on."
Reform UK has taken control of several councils including Staffordshire and Lincolnshire.
The party secured the Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral authority in what observers describe as a "body blow" to the two main parties.
In addition to these council victories, Reform UK gained a parliamentary seat, winning the Runcorn and Helsby by-election.
