Analysis by the People's Channel revealed Britain's economy is in a worse state than it was 'in the 1970s'

Ann Widdecombe has declared Britain needs "real change" as GB News analysis has revealed the chilling state of the country's economy.

Analysis by the People's Channel can exclusively reveal that the UK's economy is not only on the brink, but in fact in a worse condition than we were in the 1970s.

Independent economist and Institute of Economic Affairs fellow Julian Jessop has told GB News that we may be forced to "go back to the Bank of England" for more money printing, which could lead to more inflation, increased interest rates and mortgage hikes.

Delivering her verdict, Reform UK spokesperson Ann Widdecombe said that "Nigel Farage" is the "only one to turn things around" for Labour's economy.

Ann Widdecombe has called for 'real change' as GB News data has delivered a stark verdict for Britain's economy

Widdecombe stated: "I don't see it happening in any other way at all. We need real change, and we need something completely different.

"We need a party that is committed to lower taxes, which Reform is, committed to growth, which Reform is, and to encouraging enterprise non-doms and getting industry to want to invest in Britain. That all means a completely different approach."

Pressed by host Ben Leo on whether Reform's fate in Government in dealing with the economy could follow the footsteps of Liz Truss, Widdecombe disagreed.

She said: "It wasn't that Truss had the wrong policies, it was the a she tried to do too much too soon and she mishandled it.

GB News analysis exclusively revealed that the UK's economy is in a worse condition than it was in the 1970s

"I do not believe that Nigel Farage will fall into either of those traps, simply because we have that example right in front of us."

Criticising the Labour Government's approach to the economy, Widdecombe claimed that both the Tories and Labour in recent years have "paid no attention to generating growth".

She explained: "It would hardly be surprising that it's worse than the 1970s. The fact is that Governments of both parties in recent years have seemed to think of the economy purely in terms of tax and cuts, and virtually no attention other than lip service has been paid to generating growth.

"The essential thing about the 70s analogy is that, yes, indeed, Britain's cheques were bouncing, we had to go to the IMF, but Thatcher came in at the end of that decade and completely reversed the situation.

"By first of all lowering tax, and secondly, encouraging enterprise and going for growth."

Widdecombe told GB News that Labour are not 'prioritising growth' for the economy

Stressing that growth still doesn't appear a "priority" for Labour, Widdecombe added: "And yet this doesn't appear to be a priority, and nobody is actually implementing the policies which will result in higher growth.

"So I'm not an economist, but I would not be surprised if that were the case."

Comparing the actions to Truss to Chancellor Rachel Reeves, Widdecombe concluded: "She [Truss] did mishandle it and mishandled it very badly.

"But she alone, she alone of recent Prime Ministers has recognised the importance of growth."
