Boris Johnson's wife Carrie taken to hospital with severe dehydration

Just months after giving birth to her fourth child in May, Carrie warned other mothers about the dangers of dehydration whilst breastfeeding.

She wrote: "Being hospitalised for two nights for severe dehydration was not on my postpartum bingo card."

She also urged breastfeeding mothers to ensure adequate food and water intake during the hot weather, particularly if their babies are clusterfeeding.

Temperatures are expected to exceed 30C this weekend.

The 37-year-old described the past week as "brutal" after experiencing multiple health challenges following her recent birth.

Carrie also revealed she had also been battling mastitis, a painful breast inflammation, while her newborn daughter Poppy has been suffering from reflux.

She wrote: "This week has honestly been brutal. Mastitis (me), Reflux (her), Dehydration (me). What a pair we are!"

Despite the difficulties, she expressed gratitude for the support received.

"But thank you for all the kindest messages, especially all the brilliant advice on reflux. Really appreciate it and made me feel way less alone going through it all."

She also praised the NHS for their care during her hospitalisation. "And as ever, thanks to our amazing NHS," Carrie added.

Clusterfeeding, which Carrie Johnson referenced in her warning, occurs when babies feed very frequently over several hours before going without milk for extended periods.

The Johnsons have three other children together: Wilf, aged five, Romy, three, and Frank, one.

The family resides in a Grade II listed 17th-century country house in South Oxfordshire, set within five acres of grounds with nine bedrooms.

Carrie Johnson previously worked as a communications officer for the Conservative Party from 2009 to 2019.

She served as media special adviser to Cabinet Ministers, including Sir Sajid Javid and Sir John Whittingdale.

In 2018, aged 29, she became the Conservative Party's head of communications under Theresa May's Government, leaving the role a year later.

Her relationship with Boris Johnson was made public in 2019 as he prepared to run for Conservative Party leadership.

When Boris Johnson became Prime Minister in July 2019, she became the first unmarried partner to reside in Downing Street.
