Nigel Farage lambasts 'socialist shambles' after Budget bludgeons Britons with £26BILLION of tax hikes

"What a nonsense. We had leaks and counter leaks, the hokey cokey Budget!

"And then just a few minutes before the Chancellor went live, the OBR published the whole blooming lot," Nigel said.

The head of the Office for Budget Responsibility has since announced the economic watchdog would launch an investigation into the "outrageous" premature publishing of Ms Reeves' Budget.

"What an absolute shambles! And it was an Alice through the Looking Glass Budget with a heavy dose of socialism.

"It was anti-business. It was without any shadow of a doubt, anti-saving, particularly pension saving in the most enormous way.

"But hey, if you're on benefits, it's all good. And if you're from Somalia and you've got ten children, this is the best budget that has ever been produced.

"A few years ago, we went into the beginnings of an economic doom loop, and I believe we are still there," Nigel declared, forecasting things were going to deteriorate.

Earlier today in the Commons, Ms Reeves announced that income tax thresholds would continue to be frozen, dragging hordes of Britons into coughing up more cash for the state.

More than 1.7 million people are set to pay more income tax due to the continued freeze, which will push workers into higher tax bands as wages rise.

Ms Reeves admitted the policy would impact "working people" despite Labour’s previous persistent pledges to protect them, saying she was "asking everyone to make a contribution".

To tackle what has been described as a £40billion black hole in the public finances, the Budget blends a concoction of tax and borrowing measures affecting pensioners, working professionals, benefit claimants, motorists, students and savers.

"Rachel Reeves made it clear that everything that happened in this Budget, they were her choices," Nigel chastised.

Meanwhile, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch dubbed Sir Keir Starmer’s Government a "slow-motion car crash" and demanded the Chancellor resign.

Over the past fortnight, top Tories, including Chris Philp and Sir Mel Stride, have declared that Ms Reeves must hand in her resignation if she were to raise taxes in the Autumn Budget.

On Sunday, Sir Mel told GB News' Camilla Tominey: "Well, I know you've been urging me, Camilla, to be saying this for a very long time because I don't think you should run around constantly asking for everybody to resign over everything.

"But I think if we've reached the point where this Government in opposition made a lot of very clear commitments, including in their manifesto, then promptly junked a lot of them and did different things in office.

"She has now arrived at a point where, once again, we are led to believe they will be putting up taxes on hardworking people, which is something that they've said they wouldn't do then.

"I think it's time for her to step aside, I'm afraid."
